Challenge

At the invitation of event chair Chef Bobby Flay, Karlitz & Company has been producing the annual welcome reception for the VIP guests at the Breeders’ Cup World Championships since 2011 with a goal of appealing to the international audience of owners, jockeys, sponsors and other VIP’s the night before the start of the races.  Drawing on our culinary expertise and network, we created the “Taste of the World” which features chefs representing each of the 15 countries participating in the Breeders’ Cup.

Idea

We secure and manage all of the chef participants, who have included celebrities such as Hugh Acheson, Janine Booth, Angie Mar, Mary Sue Milliken, Iron Chef Morimoto, François Payard, Marcus Samuelsson, Aarón Sanchez, and Pierre Thiam.  We also collaborate with Breeders Cup on the overall planning of the event -- from venue and design, through the overall guest experience.

Results

With rave reviews from guests, the “Taste of the World” is on a winning streak, now entering its ninth year! The World Championships move every year or so, and we have produced this event in diverse locations, including Warner Bros. Studios (Los Angeles), Birch Aquarium (La Jolla, CA), and a horse barn at WinStar Farm (Lexington, KY).

BID 2017 - Tribeca Grill Assorted Desserts.JPG

Challenge

Karlitz & Company has been working with City Harvest since 2011, creating fund-raising experiences to support the critical hunger relief mission.  Our challenge is to continue to exceed the expectations of the generous and influential event attendees at City Harvest’s biggest tasting event of the year, BID.

Idea

In 2018, we secured and managed more than 50 of New York City’s best chefs and mixologists to participate in the event with signature bites and drinks, alongside live entertainment and auctions offering once-in-a-lifetime experiences. We collaborated closely with City Harvest to create a unique and celebratory environment, with an Old Havana theme.

Results

The 2018 event raised enough to feed 18,000 New Yorkers for an entire year, delivering millions of pounds of good, nutritious food for our fellow New Yorkers! We are currently planning the 2019 BID event, with its highly-anticipated “Studio 54” theme.

Challenge

Looking for new ways to connect with their customers, our client tasked us with finding an upscale event where customers could spend time close to their property and have a VIP experience not accessible to the general public.

Idea

For the 4th year in a row, we created an exclusive VIP suite for our client’s customers at the BottleRock festival in Napa Valley. On the festival grounds, we placed a memorable mural wall designed by a local artist and a phone charging station. A dedicated viewing suite for VIP guests offered views of the main stage, specially curated bits by Michelin-starred Chef Ken Frank, wine tastings, dedicated Wi-Fi and special take-home gifts.

Results

Through unique, themed décor, custom gifting and fantastic food and drinks, the client was able to offer an elevated VIP experience to their customers, with the intention of repeating the activation again in 2020.

Challenge

The mission of Harlem EatUp! is to celebrate and shine a spotlight on the food, culture and spirit of Harlem, while paying homage to its roots and supporting its businesses.

Idea

The annual festival was conceived by Herb Karlitz and chef, author and TV personality Marcus Samuelsson, and launched in 2015. The signature event is The Harlem Stroll in Morningside Park, where guests taste an array of menu items from local restaurants and vendors, watch cooking demos with celebrity chefs, enjoy local artisans and live performances, and participate in a spontaneous dance party!

Results

May 2019 marked the 5th year of the festival. With a 32% attendance increase over the previous year, and accolades from guests, sponsors and media, it was the best ever! We are proud to have generated over $1MM in direct spending within Harlem, and to have retained our top original sponsors – Citi, EY, and Macy’s – for all 5 years.

Challenge

Karlitz & Company was charged with creating a series of international travel experiences for our client’s top customers.  Each needed to go beyond what these customers could arrange on their own, and also offer the high-touch hospitality our clients entrust us to provide.  Peru was one of several target destinations (others have included Bangkok, Bordeaux, Burgundy, and Sydney.)

Idea

We produced an elevated tour of a top “bucket list” destination – a journey to the ancient Incan site of Machu Pichu.  Guests had the exclusive opportunity to join Chef Virgilio Martínez of famed restaurant Centrale in Lima and his team to gather unique ingredients in one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet.  The group feasted on a spectacular eight-course menu at MIL, Chef Martínez’s new restaurant, which Condé Nast Traveler said may be “the ultimate destination restaurant,” located at 3500 meters above sea level. Guests participated in behind-the-scenes activities not accessible to the average traveler.

Results

Driven by the success of this program, we have been tasked with creating new programming for the client, working closely with other worldwide chefs to design customized experiences both nationally and internationally. We are planning experiences in Tokyo, Frankfurt, Cannes, Girona, and many other cities around the globe.

Challenge

Create an experience that will shine a spotlight on the culture of innovation and the vibrant, diverse culinary landscape of Israel.

Idea

A prestigious delegation of U.S. based celebrity chefs, as well as prominent media influencers, traveled to Israel for a week of immersion into the food scene – the markets to the farms, the street food, home cooking and fine dining.

Results

The celebrity guests were blown away by the experience, as reflected in their robust social media activity.  The initiative was also embraced by the media, kicking off with a packed press conference, and followed by articles in major Israeli and U.S. media, including the Jerusalem Post, The Times of Israel, Forbes, Timeout and the Los Angeles Times.
